Resources for New Coaches
BNBSL relies on the efforts of many volunteers who work at all levels to bring quality baseball and softball programs to our community. With each season comes the need for coaches at all levels of play. If you have an interest in coaching, then let us know! Even if you haven't coached before, please consider volunteering your time and becoming acquainted with other community members. Please note that all candidates are required to pass a CORI background check. Below are some coaching resources for our younger levels.
Tee Ball Resources
TEE BALL (Pre-K to Kindergarten) – Tee Ball is the introductory level of play in BNBSL. Coaches work with players to develop basic throwing, catching, and hitting skills. The goal is to have fun so the children enjoy the introduction to baseball with their family and friends. Coaches are typically parent volunteers. While coaching experience is desirable, the coach is not required to have a deep knowledge of the game or years of coaching experience. We do need a volunteer coach who can make the experience fun and teach the game fundamentals.
Single A Resources
Typically for 1st graders, our baseball SINGLE A program is a coach-pitched level of play for beginning players in first grade. Basic skills such as throwing, catching, and batting stance are taught. Games are played against Rowley, Salisbury, or other Byfield-Newbury teams, and scores are not recorded. An emphasis on having fun and learning the game is promoted at this level.
