Evaluations
Who should attend our Annual Player Evaluation session?
BNBSL holds evaluations at the Double A, Triple A, and Major League baseball levels and at the Farm, Juniors, and Senior levels for softball. Tee Ball and Single A players do not need to attend evaluations as these are introductory programs.
Evaluations are generally only held for age levels where enrollment numbers are high enough to warrant more than one team in a division. In those situations, registrants will be notified in advance.
What happens at evaluations, and what equipment do players need to bring?
Players demonstrate their throwing, catching, batting, running, and pitching skills. Stations are run by coaches and allow us to ensure that teams are evenly distributed. Players must bring their own glove and wear sneakers, and if they wish, their own bat and helmet.
Where and when are they held?
Evaluations are typically held in late January or early February (date and times are announced each year) at The Governor’s Academy field house in Byfield. The 2024 Evaluation Day was held on Saturday, January 27th.
My player can't make their designated time slot. What do I do?
We will still evaluate your player and may rely on knowledge of the previous year's experience for returning players.
